What do children learn when they attend one of our courses at Art and Design Hive?
My approach is to teach the principles of art and design first. Once children understand the fundamentals, their creativity knows no bounds. Throughout this process I support the children in gaining the confidence to bring their imagination to life.
Students, regardless of ability, learn about the fundamental concepts of art (such as colour, form and composition) and explore a vast variety of materials (including various types of paint, fabric, wood and metal) and learn different techniques (such as drawing, printmaking, sewing, digital art and sculpting) to master valuable skills. They apply the principles of sustainable design and learn how to draw inspiration from science, art and nature.
While there is a clear structure underlying the lessons, they are designed to create a joyful and inspiring environment in which the creativity of every child can flourish.
All materials are provided and there are only six students in each class. This limited number of students ensures that each of them receives the necessary support from the teacher. Courses take place at my studio located in Old Town Hall, 213 Haverstock Hill, Belsize Park, London NW3 4QP.
